Job Description: MEP Costing Specialist (Corporate Interiors)

We are seeking a proficient MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Costing Specialist specializing in corporate interiors to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating and costing MEP systems specifically tailored for office spaces and corporate environments. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, expertise in cost analysis tools relevant to interiors, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, designers, and procurement teams.

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation: Develop accurate cost estimates for MEP systems in corporate interior projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Material Takeoffs: Conduct detailed material takeoffs from MEP drawings to quantify and price materials required for corporate interior construction, including lighting, HVAC, plumbing fixtures, and electrical systems.
• Vendor Management: Obtain competitive bids from vendors and subcontractors for MEP components and systems, ensuring pricing accuracy and adherence to project budgets.
• Cost Analysis: Analyze project scope and specifications to provide cost insights and recommendations to project teams, ensuring alignment with client expectations and budget constraints.
• Value Engineering: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and functionality standards for MEP systems in corporate interiors.
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation including bills of quantities, cost reports, and pricing summaries for review and approval by project stakeholders.
• Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of MEP bids and proposals for corporate interior projects, incorporating all relevant cost elements and ensuring competitiveness in the market.
• Change Orders: Evaluate and process change orders related to MEP systems, communicating adjustments to project budgets and timelines as necessary.
• Collaboration: Work closely with MEP engineers, architects, interior designers, project managers, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP costing with overall project planning and execution.
• Cost Control: Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to maintain financial objectives and project profitability.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• 5 years of proven experience in MEP costing and estimation specifically within corporate interior projects.
• Proficiency in MEP cost estimating software and familiarity with tools specific to corporate interiors.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials, and installation methods relevant to office environments.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings and specifications.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and interact with clients and vendors.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in cost calculations, documentation, and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification in Cost Engineering (e.g., CEC) or relevant professional credentials preferred.
