Array Labs is building a distributed radar imaging constellation to power the first accurate, real-time 3D model of the world.
As a guidance, navigation and controls engineer you will have the unique opportunity to shape the design of the first orbital MIMO radar imaging system. In this critical role, you will be collaborating with multiple engineering teams to build cutting-edge hardware, rapidly moving all the way from clean-sheet designs into full operational deployment in space.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system-level design to support a novel distributed satellite constellation
  • Investigate unique methods for satellite state estimation and control
  • Develop models and create simulation environments to analyze spacecraft behavior
  • Generate algorithms, techniques, and methods to achieve coordinate spacecraft maneuvers
  • Create spacecraft hardware requirements, specifications, and test procedures
  • Develop and implement test plans for hardware verification and validation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics
  • 11+ years of experience in control system design
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Learns new concepts rapidly, completely, and in a self-directed manner
  • High levels of self-motivation and personal accountability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under significant time constraints

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or PHD in engineering with an emphasis in control system design
  • 7+ years of experience in system-level GNC modeling
  • 7+ years of experience in working on hands-on hardware design and implementation
  • 7+ years of experience designing and implementing GNC algorithms including performing on-orbit control of spacecraft
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying control systems for real world applications
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, and/or Python
  • Experience with classical, modern, and optimal control theory
  • Experience performing system error budget analysis for spacecraft attitude control
  • Experience performing orbital modeling, prediction, and optimization
  • Knowledge of spacecraft ADCS sensors, actuators and control methods
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics, including rendezvous and formation flight algorithms
  • Experience working in a lab and using laboratory test equipment

ITAR Requirements:

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
