Job Description:

AstroForge is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented engineer to join our team as a Space System Engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial role in validating the launch compliance, system design, and concept of operations requirements for AstroForge’s deep space mining spacecraft. You will ensure that our spacecraft meet all necessary regulations, standards, and operational guidelines to ensure successful missions and safe operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive reviews of launch compliance requirements, system design specifications, and concept of operations documentation for space vehicles.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, system architects, and operations specialists, to assess compliance with technical, operational, and safety requirements.
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans to verify compliance and performance of space vehicle systems.
  • Analyze data and test results to identify any non-compliance issues or potential risks and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide expert advice on launch compliance, system design, and operational requirements.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to space vehicle design, launch operations, and concept of operations.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of compliance frameworks, processes, and tools.
  • Collaborate with external partners, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders as necessary to ensure compliance and obtain necessary approvals.

Required Capabilities:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with acute attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of space vehicle systems, launch compliance requirements, and spacecraft concept of operations principles.
  • Experience in validating compliance with industry regulations, standards, and guidelines for space vehicles.
  • Proficiency in using engineering analysis tools, simulation software, and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace industry or space mission operations is preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in Huntington Beach, CA

Desired Capabilities:

  • Experience: 2+ years working at an aerospace or related company
  • Domain knowledge: Familiarity with the space industry, specifically small satellite or deep space systems.
  • Test management: Familiarity with test management practices, including requirements traceability and test case management.
  • System-level understanding: Ability to comprehend complex system architectures and interactions between various components to develop comprehensive test strategies.
  • Continuous improvement: Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and communication: Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, assembly technicians, and management.

Salary:

  • 100k - 140k
