Job Description:
As an Electrical Engineer at AstroForge, you will collaborate across engineering disciplines to create electrical hardware solutions in support of creating the first successful asteroid mining vehicle. You will design, build, and test electronics for spacecraft and ground testing.
Responsibilities:
  • Own electronic subsystems from end-to-end, spanning from initial conception and requirements gathering to providing support during system integration, spacecraft functional testing, and in-flight operations
  • Create and maintain architectural block diagrams, select critical components, design and simulate circuit, create schematics, and perform PCB layout
  • Maintain BOMs and manufacturing drawings, and work directly with vendors to ensure that PCBAs are fabricated on schedule and to high quality standards
  • Perform board bringup and troubleshoot electronics issues at the board and system level
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, GNC, and systems engineers to ensure that designs meet all intents and allow the spacecraft as a whole to meet mission objectives
  • Participate in avionics team internal process development and contribute to a culture of technical excellence within the team
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as benchtop power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and RS422/RS485
  • Experience with at least one electrical CAD program (Altium, KiCAD, OrCAD, etc.).
  • Ability to independently manage own time and handle competing priorities.
  • Willingness to work in a highly demanding startup environment with occasional need to work extended hours and weekends to meet mission critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA
‍Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing electronics for aerospace, automotive, or other high-reliability applications.
  • Familiarity with the effects of ionizing radiation and designing systems for fault tolerance.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: high-speed digital design, power electronics, embedded systems, mixed-signal circuits, avionics design.
  • Familiarity with wire harness design and build.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a design from blank sheet to completed product.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language (such as Python, C/C++, Rust) and familiarity with automating electronic functional testing.
