Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Global Payroll Product Director to lead the development, localization, and scaling of payroll products across multiple countries. This role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and team management to ensure payroll solutions are compliant, customer-centric, and tailored to diverse global markets. You will oversee a team of Product Architects and Specialists, drive multi-country localization efforts, and manage the integration of platforms such as PaySpace and Deel. This is a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery and implementation of payroll solutions that align with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements in each jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
• Define and execute the global payroll product roadmap with a focus on compliance, scalability, and customer needs.
• Lead a team of Product Architects who lead Product Specialists to design, develop, and
implement payroll solutions that align with business objectives and customer needs
• Champion the integration and optimization of Payspace and Deel to enhance global payroll capabilities.
• Drive multi-country localization strategies to meet diverse regulatory, tax, and payroll
requirements.
• Ensure alignment between payroll product development and the company’s broader objectives.
• Establish scalable frameworks and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for product
development and implementation lifecycles.
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of Product Architects and Specialists.
• Set clear objectives, provide feedback, and drive professional growth for team members.
• Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams, including compliance, legal, engineering, and product stakeholders.
• Provide clear guidance and direction to ensure alignment with the organization's vision and market demands.
Product Development & Innovation
• Guide the design and implementation of compliant payroll solutions tailored to regional needs.
• Translate customer feedback, market research, and regulatory updates into actionable product improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to build scalable, innovative workflows and systems.
• Stay informed on advancements in payroll platforms and leverage new features for competitive advantage.
Multi-Country Localization
• Oversee the localization of payroll products, ensuring alignment with specific country tax, compliance, and labour laws.
• Partner with legal and compliance teams to proactively adapt products to regulatory changes.
• Standardize payroll operations where possible, while addressing unique regional nuances.
Compliance Oversight & Quality Assurance
• Monitor global regulatory changes and drive updates to ensure product compliance.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts (BAs) and QA teams to verify that all builds meet compliance standards.
• Approve product delivery and ensure adherence to functional, technical, and legislative
requirements.
Project Management & Delivery
• Oversee project timelines, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and within scope.
• Manage escalations and roadblocks, communicating updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure effective post-deployment handovers and knowledge sharing with relevant teams.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
• Establish OKRs and performance metrics for payroll products, including compliance, accuracy, and user satisfaction.
• Analyse data to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
• Report insights and updates to senior leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and
accomplishments.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years in global payroll or HR technology domains.
• Proven success in leading product teams, including architects and specialists, to deliver multi-country payroll solutions.
• Hands-on experience with platforms like PaySpace, Deel, or similar global payroll tools.
• Expertise in multi-country payroll compliance, localization, and system integration.
Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with a focus on motivation and high performance.
• Deep understanding of global payroll processes, tax systems, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in product management methodologies (e.g., Agile, JIRA) and project management tools.
• Analytical and strategic mindset, capable of solving complex compliance and system
challenges.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Payroll certifications (e.g., CPP, IPPM) or relevant technical credentials.
• Experience with programming languages for payroll calculations.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and driving system development projects.
