Job Description:

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you play a vital role in the healthcare team by providing essential direct patient care and support to nurses and other healthcare professionals. Working in a variety of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities, you assist with the basic needs of patients and contribute to their overall comfort and well-being. Your compassionate and attentive care helps maintain a safe and healing environment for patients.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care Assistance: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding, as needed.

Vital Signs Monitoring: Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate, notifying the nurse of any significant changes.

Mobility Support: Help patients with mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment to ensure their safety and comfort.

Blood Draw and Specimen Collection: Collect blood samples and other specimens as directed by healthcare professionals, following proper procedures and maintaining patient privacy.

EKGs and Monitoring: Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and assist in monitoring cardiac rhythms, under the direction of medical staff.

Patient Observation: Keep a close watch on patients' physical and emotional well-being, promptly reporting any concerning changes to the nursing team.

Assisting with Procedures: Prepare patients for various procedures, such as wound care, catheterization, and minor medical treatments.

Infection Control: Follow infection prevention protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

Patient Transport: Assist in transferring patients within the healthcare facility, ensuring their comfort and safety during the process.

Documentation: Accurately document patient care activities, vital signs, and other relevant information in medical records.

Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to provide updates on patient status and address any concerns.

Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain medical equipment and supplies to ensure they are ready for patient use.
