DirectShifts is looking for an Operating Room RN Circulator that is interested in growing with with our Ambulatory Surgery Center team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing perioperative care to patients undergoing out patient surgery, as well as providing guidance and support to the surgical team.
No weekends, no call, no holidays!
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of the operating room and equipment
- Perform preoperative assessment of patients and provide patient education
- Provide perioperative care to patients undergoing surgery
- Provide postoperative care to patients in the recovery room
- Assist in the management of outpatient surgical services
- Maintain accurate records of patient care
- Provide patient education on pre- and post-operative care
- Keeping patients and their families informed about surgical procedures
- Administering medication and using medical equipment under the direction of a surgeon
- Responding to sudden changes in patients’ health, direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations according to physician and administrative policy.
- Keeping good records and maintaining patients’ charts, completing chart for each patient
- Using basic math skills adequate for dosage calculations
- Working with surgeons, surgical technologists, anesthesia, pre and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op
- Standing for long periods, lifting moderate weight and working in environments where there may be infectious material
- Maintains adequate room supplies, assists in stocking and replenishing, outdating and preparation of supplies. Notifies appropriate staff member to order supplies as needed
- Proper handling and charting surgical specimens
- Assists physician and anesthesia personnel as needed
- Ability to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care
- Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient's care, from admission to discharge, to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure
- Reviews and updates physician preference cards as needed
