Osceola Regional Medical Center and University of Central Florida's Emergency Medicine Residency Program are in need of an Emergency Medicine Core Faculty, Director of Simulation and/or Education to replace internal candidates who have taken on new roles. Come be a part of an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas by thru quality of didactic and clinical education of the residency program.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
* Completed a Medical Education and/or Simulation Fellowship and/or,
* Two years prior Core Faculty experience in an Emergency Medicine Residency
Responsibilities may include organizing and implementing the didactic & simulation curriculum, overseeing didactic evaluation, and managing resident education requirements.
In addition, the residency leadership values modern adult learning techniques such as flipped classroom approaches, small group learning, and frequent simulation workshops.
The compensation package is very attractive and includes a generous stipend for academic duties, with protected time in addition to a competitive clinical rate. Benefits include 401K, medical, dental, disability, and CME allowance. The position comes with academic appointment to the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, with traditional opportunities for academic advancement, promotion and tenure.
Additional certs required: BC/BP EM (ABEM/AOBEM) Residency Trained. Must have active ATLS, BLS, ACLS and PALS.
Candidate will be employed thru EnVision Healthcare, an HCA affiliated partner, and based at Osceola Regional Medical Center. The UCF Health Sciences campus, also located in Lake Nona, includes state-of-the-art medical education and research facilities.
Osceola Regional Medical Center is a Joint Commission accredited 404-bed level II trauma hospital that builds on a proud tradition of healthcare excellence in Osceola County, Florida. It is centrally located in the heart of Kissimmee, only minutes from Orlando, St. Cloud, Celebration and Poinciana. The Kissimmee area has pleasing family oriented residential communities with quick access to multiple theme parks and numerous cultural opportunities. Both the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico beaches are just a short drive away.
Osceola Regional Medical Center is the teaching hospital for the UCF COM, and home to residency programs in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Transitional year, General Surgery, in addition to Emergency Medicine.
Osceola Regional Medical Center is home to a Trauma Center, STEMI Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Pediatric and Adult Intensive Care, Vascular Surgery, OB-GYN and Women's Services, Neonatal Care, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery and Spine, and Behavioral Health. The ED volume is over 80,000 (this should be updated), and we have a dedicated Pediatrics Emergency Department. The acuity is high, and pathology rich.
The department has a strong academic presence within the UCF/HCA consortium, with a track record of research and didactic presentations at national SAEM, CORD, and ACEP meetings. There is a dedicated research infrastructure, including a biostatistician, and several data analysts, as well as personal support for manuscript preparation and submission to academic journals. The educational program is innovative and cutting edge, with a state-of-the-art simulation center and a robust ultrasonography program. Summer of 2019 will welcome two EM fellowship programs, in Clinical Research and Ultrasonography. Both programs are supported by Envision Physician Services and have protected grant funding. The department also has a strong EMS presence with active research programs in pediatric cardiac arrest, stroke, and sepsis.
