We are seeking Physician Assistants to join our clients team for an ongoing locums assignment. Flexible shift scheduling available. Applicants need 4+ shifts per month of availability.

Requirements:
- Active NY state medical license
- Board Certified
- 2+ years' experience in Surgery

Description (included but not limited to):
- Assess patients prior to surgical procedures to ensure they're fit for surgeries
- Answer patient questions about surgical procedures and offering reassurance to nervous patients
- Communicate with surgical physicians ahead of procedures to determine what tools and equipment the need
- Prepare the operating room and making sure they have the correct number of tools and equipment necessary
- Hold tools for physicians during surgery and handing them items as needed
- Help surgical physicians manipulate internal bodily structures to enhance visibility and make it easier to perform internal procedures
- Oversee minor or routine procedures on their own, including draining abscesses, overseeing laparoscopies, performing biopsies or conducting burn excisions
- Stitch up patients using sutures and surgical knots
- Coordinate discharge activities and ensuring the health of a patient before approving their discharge from hospital
- Help patients schedule follow-up appointments before patients get discharged
