About the Role:

As an Addictions RN at a DirectShifts facility in Florida, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction. You will work collaboratively with addiction specialists, therapists, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans and support patients throughout their recovery journey.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' addiction severity, co-occurring mental health conditions, and medical needs.
• Administer medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
• Provide counseling and support to patients, educating them on addiction, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including detoxification, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and therapy.
• Advocate for patients' needs and connect them with appropriate community resources.
• Monitor patients' progress, address challenges, and celebrate milestones on the road to recovery.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients in detox centers, inpatient treatment facilities, or outpatient clinics.
• Adhere to all facility policies and evidence-based practices for addiction treatment.

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted Florida State RN License.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field, such as mental health, emergency room, or general nursing (experience working with addiction populations is preferred).
• Strong understanding of addiction, its underlying causes, and various treatment modalities.
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. Knowledge of motivational interviewing and relapse prevention techniques is a plus.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on building trust and empowering patients.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage challenging situations with empathy, non-judgment, and resilience.
