The Speech-Language Pathologist assumes primary responsibility for providing services for children needing evaluation and/or remediation for speech and language deficits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plans as part of therapeutic intervention in the area of speech and language development.
  • Maintain and review daily records of student progress, ensuring reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Submit progress updates and IEP goals in speech for annual reviews, requested reviews and graduating children.
  • Utilize standardized tests as well as clinical observations to assess students' strengths and deficits and prepare written annual evaluation reports.
  • Refer children for additional audiological consultations and medical evaluations when necessary.
  • Participate actively as a member of the school's interdisciplinary therapeutic team, attend regularly scheduled staff and team meetings.

Education & Experience:

  • Master in Speech Pathology
  • New York State Speech Pathology License
  • New York State Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or New York State Certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities
  • One-year experience with language impaired children
