Job Description:
DirectShifts is seeking a licensed Psychiatrist for an onsite position in Ohio. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for psychiatric evaluations, patient discharges, overseeing Nurse Practitioners with direct patient care, and developing and assisting with the implementation of treatment plans
Minimum Qualification:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an approved psychiatric residency program
- Board Certification in Psychiatry
- Active medical license to practice in the state of Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Psychiatrist, preferably in behavioral or mental health settings
- BLS certification (must be current or obtained within 1 month of hire)
- Valid DEA certification (state and federal)
- X-waiver to prescribe Suboxone/Subutex (or ability to obtain)
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Proficient with EMR systems and computer literacy
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations and finalize discharge summaries
- Analyze medical records, test results, and reports to diagnose and treat patients
- Provide episodic, preventive, and psychiatric care as needed
- Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
- Collaborate with the medical team and patients' families to develop treatment plans
- Monitor patients’ clinical progress and adjust care plans accordingly
- Recognize and respond to psychiatric emergencies
- Participate in the development of clinical goals and objectives
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies
- Ensure compliance with all facility policies, state and federal laws, and Joint Commission standards
- Uphold ethical behavior, patient privacy laws, and standards of conduct
- Seek ongoing education and remain current with best practices in behavioral medicine
