Nurse Manager – Emergency Department (IMC)
Location: New York
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager to lead our fast-paced Emergency Department (ED). This leadership role involves 24-hour responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, as well as supervising nursing staff and departmental operations. The Nurse Manager will collaborate with physicians, administration, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership:
- Oversee daily ED operations, staffing, and workflow management.
- Develop and monitor departmental metrics (e.g., patient volume, satisfaction, staff turnover, overtime).
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and performance improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
Clinical Oversight:
- Establish and uphold nursing care standards in collaboration with the CNO/SVP of Nursing.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and compassionate care environment for all patients.
- Team Management & Development:
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor ED nursing staff.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to review goals, metrics, and updates.
- Lead conflict resolution and performance improvement efforts.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development.
Customer & Quality Focus:
- Monitor and enhance patient satisfaction scores.
- Respond to and resolve complaints from patients, staff, and physicians.
- Foster a culture of respect, empathy, and patient-centered care.
Qualifications: Required:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Current RN license in New York State
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Proven leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound decisions under pressure
Preferred: TNCC Certification
