About The Role

The Back of House (BOH) Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all areas behind the scenes in a restaurant or food service establishment. This includes facilities management, store room management, staff dining area, and office administration. The BOH Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a well-organized and functional back-of-house environment, ensuring the smooth functioning of the overall food and beverage operations.

Facilities Management

What you'll be doing

  • Maintain and manage the cleanliness, organization, and safety of all BOH areas.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Implement energy-efficient and cost-effective facility management strategies.
  • Store Room Management:
  • Supervise the receiving, storage, and inventory control of food, beverages, and non-food supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock assessments.
  • Ensure proper rotation and utilization of products to minimize waste.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers for timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Staff Dining Area:
  • Create a comfortable, clean, and welcoming staff dining area.
  • Develop menus, coordinate meal schedules, and maintain a high standard of food quality.
  • Manage the allocation of resources and staffing for the staff dining area.
  • Gather feedback from employees to improve the dining experience.
  • Office Administration:
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to the BOH, such as payroll, scheduling, and record-keeping.
  • Maintain clear communication with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handle any HR-related concerns or issues within the BOH team.
  • Develop and maintain procedural manuals for BOH operations.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Recruit, train, and manage BOH staff, including chefs, kitchen staff, and maintenance personnel.
  • Set performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure a high level of service.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Address staff issues promptly and professionally.


What You'll Need
