❓ What is HYP

HYP is the social bidding platform for exclusive releases. We work directly with brands and artist to host exclusive release auctions. On HYP, users link Instagram to show off and compete in front of the world to win release auctions across fashion, art, NFTs, vehicles, collectibles, experiences, cosmetics, and more.

We recognize that when brands do their hundreds of exclusive releases every year, all of those releases are positioned as forerunners for their general releases and are meant to increase the exposure, clout, and popularity of the overall brand and similar product offerings.

We de-risk the exclusive release process for brands by hyper-concentrating demand and elevating perception and exposure past what they're able to do by themselves.

So far, we've done 5 trial releases.

The 5 auctions yielded 10M+ impressions on Instagram, took us viral and got us on HYPEBEAST, Highsnobiety, COMPLEX, NiceKicks, CNBC, SupCommunity, and more, over $800,000 in bids, and a $1.3M pre-seed fundraising round.

We're well funded now by amazing VCs, founders, operators, execs of brands, an owner of an NBA team, influencers, DJs, and art collectors.

The current team consists of myself, Frances (designer), Garrett (engineering head), and Paul (sourcing intern). In addition to this position, we're looking to hire one more junior engineer.

Brands and artists are excited to work with us - and I can't wait to see HYP in action at scale.

👀 Who we're looking for

As our second engineer, you will make critical decisions regarding our tech stack and early architecture. You should have a solid grasp of scalability and systems design, and be able to explain your decisions and the tradeoffs that come with them.

We're looking for someone who'll take ownership and embrace autonomy and responsibility on engineering and product decisions, as well as provide input on business decisions.

If you have genuine interest about tapping into the core of what people buy and why, and letting them receive maximum benefit from what they purchase, you'll understand the direction of our product. If you love learning, sharing what you've learned, and constant personal growth, you'll be a great fit and I can't wait to build the future of social commerce with you.

• Full-stack
• 3+ Years of JS (can include personal projects)
• Experience writing production-grade code
  • Shipped features or a product used by many users
  • Scaled a production codebase
• Has led engineering teams before or has been a solo engineer for the entirety of a project
• React

• AWS (or willing to learn)

💰 Compensation & Perks

Salary: $90,000 - $170,000 USD

Equity: 0.5 - 2.0%
