Job Title: Chief of Staff & CEO Communications
Location: San Francisco, CA
Reports To: CEO

About the Role
As the Chief of Staff & CEO Communications lead at Ironclad, you will partner closely with the CEO to shape the company's narrative and drive strategic priorities. This hybrid role combines executive communications with operational leadership, placing you at the center of Ironclad's most critical initiatives. You will craft and execute a cohesive communications strategy, manage cross-functional projects, and optimize the CEO's focus for maximum impact.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, strategic thinker, and proactive operator who excels at managing communications and driving execution. You will amplify the CEO’s voice across channels, ensure organizational alignment, and keep initiatives moving forward while ensuring the Office of the CEO runs seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Prioritization & Initiative Management: Work closely with the CEO to prioritize initiatives that will drive the company's success. Lead cross-functional projects from ideation to completion, ensuring alignment across teams and timely delivery of key milestones.

  • External CEO Communications: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the CEO. Draft and refine all written materials including speeches, op-eds, blog posts, social media content, and long form thought leadership. Research relevant industry topics, draft compelling narratives, and position the CEO as an industry leader. Ensure all communications reflect the CEO’s voice and align with Ironclad’s mission and strategic goals.

  • Internal CEO Communications: Lead the development of content for internal CEO communications, including Company All Hands meetings, leadership updates, and other key events. Partner with internal teams to ensure employees feel informed, inspired, and connected to the company’s mission.

  • External Engagement Management: Prepare the CEO for external appearances (media interviews, podcasts, conferences, customer events, and keynote speeches). Develop briefing materials and coordinate with external partners to maximize the impact of each engagement. Serve as the point person for coordinating external content opportunities, ensuring a consistent narrative.

  • Social Media Strategy & Execution: Support the CEO in maintaining an engaging social media presence. Draft posts, engage with key audiences, and help build a social media calendar that keeps the CEO visible and connected to employees, customers, and industry peers.

  • Executive Decision Support: Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on key decisions, providing well-researched recommendations and synthesizing information from across the organization. Attend meetings, capture action items, and follow up to drive accountability.

  • Executive Administration and Agenda Management: Directly manage and support the CEO's Executive Assistant. Ensure management of the CEO’s schedule, in partnership with his Executive Assistant, to ensure that time is being allocated effectively across the company's priorities. Set agendas for meetings, facilitate discussions to align on outcomes, and ensure effective follow-through on decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Executive Partner: Proven track record of trusted relationships with C-level executives. Ability to foster trust and transparency across the organization, and act as an ambassador of the CEO's vision.

  • Strategic Communications Mindset: Ability to think strategically about messaging, audience, and impact. Understand how to align content with the CEO’s and the company’s broader goals.

  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Proven experience in creating clear, compelling content across various formats—from investor relations presentations to social media posts.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, keep timelines on track, and quickly adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Operational Efficiency: Ability to improve processes, streamline workflows, and ensure effective collaboration across various teams.

  • Discretion and Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information with complete discretion.

Requirements

Availability: Able to work on-site in our San Francisco office a minimum of three days per week, with flexibility to adapt based on CEO and company needs.

Base Salary Range: $192,000 - $240,000

The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position based at our San Francisco headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors, including individual proficiency, anticipated performance, and the location of the selected candidate. Our base salary is just one component of Ironclad’s competitive total rewards package, which also includes equity awards (a new hire grant, along with opportunities for additional awards throughout your tenure), competitive health and wellness benefits, and a commitment to career growth and development.
