The Role

We're seeking a full-time Assistant Accountant to support the Group Accountant with day-to-day general accounts functions and accounts payable processing. As a key member of the financial control team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and assisting in the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports and reconciliations. The role will include internal stakeholder management and participation in project work as part of our continuous improvement initiative.

What You’ll Own

  • Accounts Payable

    • Control the accounts payable function for all business units including timely processing of invoices, set up of new vendor accounts, statement reconciliation, weekly batch payment runs and expense reimbursements.

    • Research and investigate discrepancies in invoices.

    • Credit card reconciliations including FX transactions.

  • Bank Reconciliations and Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Financial Reporting

    • Complete month-end process by ensuring that monthly standard journals are processed with appropriate backing, and all month-end tasks are completed within appropriate timeframes.

    • Perform intercompany reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

    • Work with Group Accountant to gain skills and knowledge required to assist with monthly financial reports and cash flow.

  • Audit

    • Ensure that all policies and procedures within areas of responsibility are being followed.

    • Provide any assistance where required to the Auditors during the audit process.

    • Compliance with internal processes and procedures and contribute to process improvements by identifying risks, opportunities and potentially issues that need to be escalated.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all business units to build a strong financial framework around the company’s key activities.

  • Assist in implementation of financial systems and processes to scale Finance into a gold standard decision support set-up

Who We’re Looking For

  • At start of CPA program / part-qualified

  • 2+ years experience in a similar role

  • Experience with ERP (NetSuite and/or Xero preferable)

  • Strong Google Sheets / Excel skills is essential

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task

  • Team player and strong interpersonal skills
