As the Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, you will play a crucial role in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring the environmental, health, warehouse safety, and fleet safety standards across the region. Reporting to the Director of Safety, you will collaborate with Warehouse Operations, Regional Distribution Teams, and Local Human Resource Teams to foster a culture of safety and compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage effective programs for occupational health, safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and fleet safety.
  • Manage the Department of Transportation registration and compliance program for all drivers hired and employed within the company.
  • Educate, motivate, and train warehouse/distribution leaders and associates on good housekeeping, safe work procedures, PPE usage, safe mobile equipment operation, and fleet vehicle safety.
  • Oversee the region’s PPE and safety equipment programs, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Administer training for mobile equipment operation.
  • Support the Director of Safety with the workers' compensation program, including case management, investigations, reporting, record maintenance, and follow-up.
  • Assist in managing the auto insurance program, including accident investigations, reporting, and monitoring safe driving behaviors.
  • Develop and implement programs to identify, prevent, and control occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Coordinate EHS and fleet safety education and training programs and serve as Co-Chairperson on each site’s safety committee.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local health, industrial hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain an accurate OSHA 300 log.
  • Accompany inspectors during site visits and report findings.
  • Aid the operations team in developing risk assessments and safe operating procedures, and investigate incidents.
  • Develop and implement audit programs to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on safety reporting tools, systems, and resources.
  • Track and report on site safety KPIs.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to the EHS team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in an EHS/DOT/EHS or similar role
  • Experience in manufacturing or the food industry
  • Ability to present weekly updates to local management
  • Experience managing a captive insurance policy
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) applicable, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards
  • Experience using safety clouds (Gensuite, iScout, KPA, etc.) to manage safety across multiple locations.
  • Experience managing telematics platforms (Samsara, Verizon Connect, etc.
  • Computer skills including Google Suite knowledge

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Sedentary work; involves sitting some of the time
  • Standing desks and/or other ergonomic accommodation is available upon request
  • Occasional movement around the office may be necessary
  • Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens
  • Regular use of mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets
  • Able to work in cold temperatures in a refrigerated environment
