Neural Networks are the most powerful engines behind today's artificial intelligence (AI). However, simulating these networks requires massive amounts of time and energy. Rather than simulating neural networks on conventional processors, Rain has created a novel processor architecture designed specifically for neural networks. We combine unique materials and nanofabrication techniques to create a new type of AI chip, known as the Memristive Nanowire Neural Network (MN3). The MN3 achieves superior scalability in terms of computation time, energy consumption, and network size when compared to other state-of-the-art hardware architectures. As a result, Rain can build and train neural architectures with over 1 billion neurons, bringing us closer to true brain-scale intelligence.
