REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.
We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $9B in orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.
As Head of Vehicle Testing, you are an experienced leader who can create and execute a test program to evaluate prototype seagliders from on-water operations to full flight. This will include an exhaustive envelope expansion of all operating regimes, validating the vehicle’s design and performance. You will lead the testing organization's evolution from initial full-scale prototype testing to full-rate production vehicle sea trials.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Leading prototype seaglider integrated testing and on-water test program, from setting objectives through producing artifacts to support vehicle certification. Includes managing test schedule, personnel, equipment, and facilities as well as acting as test director and/or test engineer
  • Manage test safety review board process
  • Staff management of test pilots/captains, test engineers, and mechanics/crew chiefs
  • Manage integration and operation of telemetry and data collection systems including obtaining FCC licenses
  • Oversee on-water test facilities and support boat/aircraft management
  • Liaison with local stakeholders for on-water testing operations
  • Prioritizing requests from other stakeholders: engineering, business development, regulators
  • Developing and executing a production vehicle test program

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience post-graduation in vehicle development and test
  • BS/BA in a technical discipline
  • Experience leading test programs for prototype, human-carrying vehicles such as aircraft, spacecraft, boats, or other complex vehicles in a regulated environment
  • Track record of leading and prioritizing human safety in test campaigns
  • Experience producing certification artifacts from a vehicle test program
  • Managerial experience leading teams from different disciplines

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with DoD testing organizations
  • Hands-on flight testing or vessel sea trial experience as pilot/captain or test engineer
  • Engineering practical experience, particularly related to prototyped systems
