About the Team:

Rippling is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Engineer to join our Finance Platform Team which handles billions of dollars in transactions per month. This role is a great opportunity to be a key technical leader at Rippling with high visibility and growth opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of Rippling's finance platform. This platform includes payments, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, anti-money laundering controls, accounting and financial reporting systems that are critical to our customers success. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect scalable systems, enhance existing features, and drive innovation in our product offerings, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable financial services to our customers.

This role will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, and maintaining robust payment systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will:

• Engineer and maintain innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain compliance protocols, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, anti-money laundering controls, and regulatory requirements.

• Tackle complex engineering challenges, leveraging your expertise to devise ingenious solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible.

• Continuously innovate and optimize payment processes to enhance efficiency, user experience, and system performance.

• Confidently ship large features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.

• Solve technical problems of the highest scope and complexity of the team & Finance Products Org.

• Translate high-level business requirements into a software design and communicate the designs to the other developers in the team.

• Review and share feedback on code, features, technology, architecture, and designs. Drive the standards around code quality and testing across your product.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, architecture diagrams, and test plans.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers on your team to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers to their autonomy.

• Have exposure to business and technical leadership to strategize what can improve our revenue and our ability to scale rapidly.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the FinTech industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.

• Minimum 8 years of professional software development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java, Python, or similar programming languages.

• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment by identifying areas of impact and independently pursuing them.

• Preferred experience in our technology stack- Python, Django, MongoDB, AWS.

• Infectious passion for solving real customer pain points.

• Experience in building scalable distributed systems.

• Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in written and verbal modes.

• Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.

• Preferred experience in high performance organization, preferably a tech startup.
