About the role
We're looking for an experienced payroll specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise.
This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire for the Global Payroll Operations team that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This role will own all operational aspects across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, which includes tax and statutory payment resolution on behalf of our customers, communication with government agencies, and collaboration with R&D teams and external partners. Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software and expansion into new customer segments and geographies.
This is an exciting role that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.
What you will do
- Assist with monthly payroll tax filings and payments throughout the APAC region
- Manage for statutory payment submission, such as Foreign Worker Levy, NS Claims and Government-Paid leaves (e.g., Maternity, Shared Parental, Military leave submissions)
- Ensure full compliance with Singapore's employment laws and regulations by calculating and submitting Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions on time.
- Act as the subject matter expert for handling annual income tax (Auto Inclusion Scheme) submissions and IR21 forms for employees leaving Singapore
- Assist with operational tasks in New Zealand such as payday filings and STP filings and superannuation in Australia
- Conduct regular audits of payroll records, deductions, and tax withholdings across all APAC countries
- Drive issue resolution and communication with various government agencies such as IRAS, ATO and IRD,
- Directly engage with our customers and effectively resolve their issues
- Work closely with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure that:
- Natively built payroll software supports key payroll and tax compliance requirements
- Product bugs and product issues (e.g., calculation errors, file generation errors) are quickly addressed
- Internal tooling requirements and automated solutions are properly prioritized and implemented
- Oversee the management, communication, and documentation of operating procedures and policies
- Help the organization scale and grow with the business, which includes driving the APAC payroll strategy to streamline processes while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and best-in-class product
What you will need
- Extensive experience running payroll in the APAC region with expertise in payroll and tax compliance, particularly in Singapore. (Prior exposure to payroll operations in Australia and New Zealand is a plus)
- Prior involvement with tax as well as tax notice resolution with ATO, IRD, and IRAS
- Familiarity with APAC HR & Payroll law and policy
- Minimum of 2+ years in global payroll tax and minimum of 3+ years in a client-facing role
- Ability to manage and solve a queue of customer support tickets
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills: high attention to detail with excellent work product, time management, and execution
- Strong proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office for data analysis and task organization; familiarity with Salesforce, JIRA, and Confluence a plus
- Ability to overlap with U.S. hours (both Eastern and Pacific time zone - EST/PST, preferred)
