About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.

About the role

Rippling’s Data Cloud underpins every analytical experience across our platform—from real-time dashboards for HR and IT admins, to executive-level insights, to the next generation of AI-driven workflows. We are building the foundational UX and visualization layer for Rippling’s end-to-end Data Cloud—uniting ingestion, transformation, modeling, and visualization so every workflow can leverage trustworthy, real-time data. This requires a front-end architecture that can interact seamlessly with large, fast-moving datasets while delivering a fluid, consumer-grade analytical experience.

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Front-End Engineer to define and lead the technical direction of this ecosystem. You will architect the rendering pipelines, interaction models, and performance systems that power data exploration for millions of users. You’ll build the visualization layer that transforms raw, multi-modal data into insights, governs how LLMs translate intent into UI actions, and becomes the foundation for every analytics surface at Rippling.

This is a mission-critical, high-visibility role. You will operate as the primary front-end counterpart to multiple Staff+ backend and ML leaders, owning the core analytical interaction loop for the entire company. Your decisions will shape our approach to scalable visualization, cross-product consistency, and developer productivity for years.

We’re looking for someone who can immediately step into a deeply technical, highly ambiguous problem space; make independent architectural decisions at Data Cloud scale; and accelerate the engineering organization through clarity, rigor, and world-class execution.

What you will do

  • Own the architecture and end-to-end front-end ecosystem for Rippling’s analytics and visualization platform.
  • Build highly performant visualization systems capable of rendering tens of thousands of data points with smooth, real-time interactivity.
  • Redesign and own core analytics surfaces—including dashboards, catalog, and the analytics homepage.
  • Architect the front-end integration with LLM Co-Pilot, enabling conversational intent to translate directly into UI actions.
  • Establish scalable patterns, frameworks, and code quality standards that hundreds of engineers will build on.
  • Lead and mentor a team of four front-end engineers while serving as the primary FE partner to senior backend and ML org leaders.
  • Drive product decisions with Design and PM, ensuring a cohesive, intuitive, enterprise-grade analytical experience.

What you will need

  • Deep expertise in front-end platform architecture, performance optimization, rendering, and large-scale data visualization.
  • Proven experience building complex, enterprise-grade customer-facing UIs with broad surface area and high performance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience solving performance challenges with large datasets (10k+ data points, high-frequency updates, virtualization techniques, etc.).
  • Strong product instincts and the ability to make high-quality, independent technical decisions that influence entire orgs.
  • Demonstrated leadership—uplifting teams, mentoring senior engineers, and operating as a force multiplier rather than a solo contributor.
  • Track record leading major re-architecture efforts or platform transitions in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience in analytics, visualization, or large-scale enterprise data products (e.g., Tableau, Snowflake, Databricks) is a strong plus.
