About Slash
Slash is building the future of business banking, one industry at a time.
We believe businesses deserve financial infrastructure tailored to how they actually operate, not generic banking products retrofitted with software. We’re creating a new category of business banking that combines the reliability of traditional banking (high yields, competitive rewards, and uncompromising security) with industry-specific software, stablecoins, and AI-native workflows.
Our goal is simple: make businesses more efficient, more competitive, and more profitable.
Founded in 2021, Slash is one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in the world. We power billions in annual transaction volume across a wide range of industries — from internet-native founders to traditional operators. We’ve raised over $60M from leading investors including Menlo Ventures, NEA, Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, Stanford University, and founders of companies like Tinder and Plaid.
Our team brings together fintech operators from Cash App, Brex, and Finix, alongside founders who have built and scaled their own businesses. We’re headquartered in San Francisco (with another office in New York City) and operate with a strong in-person culture.
About The Role
We're looking for a Head of Credit to own and scale our credit offerings. This person will be responsible for building the credit infrastructure, underwriting policies, partnerships, and team needed to grow originations into the hundreds of millions monthly while maintaining best-in-class loss rates.
This is not a back-office risk role. You'll sit at the center of the business, working closely with growth, product, engineering, and leadership to make credit decisions that directly enable business growth.
You should be deeply engaged with customer needs, have strong judgment under uncertainty, and know what it takes to scale underwriting responsibly.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end credit product development, including understanding customer needs, building underwriting models, finding financing, managing launches, and growing the loan book
Scale originations for corporate charge cards and other credit offerings to $100M+ in monthly originations while maintaining low default and delinquency rates
Design and implement automated credit decisioning systems in partnership with engineering team
Build reporting & monitoring systems to provide clear visibility into credit portfolio
Lead stress testing, scenario analysis, and reserve methodology calculations to ensure resilience across credit cycles
Manage relationships with capital partners, rating agencies, and other potential partners as needed
Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing credit and risk team
Who You Are
10+ years of experience in commercial lending in a credit, risk management, or underwriting role
Proven track record of scaling a commercial lending portfolio with low loss rates
Deep fluency in credit modeling, scoring, and alternative data; you've built or significantly improved underwriting models directly
Experience designing automated credit decisioning pipelines and working cross-functionally with product and engineering
Strong understanding of funding structures and their tradeoffs (including warehouse facilities, forward flow arrangements, and securitizations)
Ability to move fast without cutting corners; you know how to say yes responsibly and no with conviction
Excellent communicator who can translate complex risk concepts for internal and external stakeholders
Experience operating in a regulated environment and familiarity with applicable consumer & commercial lending regulations
Based in San Francisco or New York City and excited to work in-person 5 days a week
Nice to Have
Experience underwriting in SMB lending (term loans, lines of credit, revenue-based financing, or merchant cash advances)
Background at a top-tier fintech (e.g., Brex, Ramp, Affirm, SoFi, Upstart, Mercury, Pipe, Clearco) or comparable high-growth lender
Experience managing multiple institutional capital partners and / or rating agency relationships
CFA, FRM, or advanced degree in a quantitative field
