Volta Labs, Inc. (https://www.voltalabs.com/) is an MIT spin-off that has unlocked powerful new DNA sequencing capabilities by developing novel fluidic technology. You will be joining the Engineering team at Volta Labs and have the opportunity to collaborate with the team on a variety of projects including consumable manufacturing, prototyping, instrument assembly, instrument qualification and other projects as needed. As you learn, you will have the opportunity to grow in the company and gain responsibilities.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assemble and qualify Volta’s consumables to support internal use and manage the inventory of consumable materials
  • Perform quality control and document assembly of Volta consumables
  • Help improve Volta’s consumable manufacturing processes
  • Support the engineering team’s prototyping, manufacturing and assembly of mechanical and electrical components
  • Elevate issues and help solve problems
  • As engineering and manufacturing technician, you will work across all our engineering functions and get your hands on projects from early concepts to scale-up manufacturing

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing or prototyping equipment such as: 3D printing, laser-cutting, CNC machining, assembly, drill press, band saw, hand tools, soldering…
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret mechanical drawings and diagrams
  • Technical expertise to troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical equipment
  • Continuous learner with an attention to detail and safety
  • Able to solve problems with critical thinking
  • Strong organization, documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without much supervision
  • (Optional) CAD design experience (such as Solidworks, Fusion 360 or OnShape)
